Multidisciplinary artist and designer, Jessa Butler has been a creator her whole life, whether doodling, painting, or any craft that she could get her hands on, including tumbling rocks. Her childhood creativity and curiosity morphed into designing. Earning a Graphic Design degree at Drexel University, Jessa worked for over a decade as a self-employed Graphic Designer catering to small businesses for branding materials and party planners for invitation and paper goods.
It wasn’t until the pandemic that Jessa realized her favorite parts of designing for clients were always the ones off of the computer when she could get her hands dirty with paints and pastels. Searching for community and creativity, she also realized she needed to express her own ideas. Jessa’s design background provides a strong foundation in composition and color, which now influences her approach to creating art.
As she continues to define her style, her use of colorful lines and strong brushstrokes pop up as a constant theme. Influenced by her love of nature, travel, and different cultures, she strives to invoke the same found joy through her art. Jessa’s evolution from graphic designer to artist has been a journey of discovery, allowing her to embrace new forms of creativity and self-expression. She’s excited to continually grow as an artist.
